Suspension Bondage

Suspension bondage is a one of the most dangerous forms of sexual bondage. It is where one person is hung from numerous suspension points and may include a variety of different types of bondage equipment, mainly bondage rope.

People partake in suspension bondage to create a heightened sense of vulnerability or inescapability. Being suspended, especially in a large space, also creates a sense of helplessness, submissiveness and objectification that can give a type of mental hold on the suspended.

There are three main positions in suspension, these are:

Vertical Suspension

This is where the person is lifted from the ground by their wrists. This will usually occur by the use of suspension cuffs.

If you are using bondage rope for this, then we recommend being extremely careful as it can damage your soft tissue and reduce circulation. If you are going to use bondage rope for this type of suspension bondage then we recommend using a bondage rope harness, where the rope is tied around the body like a harness.

Horizontal Suspension

This is where the submissive is bound in a horizontal position, usually face down. The body is lifted into this position with the help of other types of bondage equipment by attaching it to the wrists and ankles, or to other areas of the body.

Inverted Suspension

Inverted suspension is when the suspended is done so upside down. This position may not be able to be maintained for a long period of time due to blood rushing to the head, which can result in the person blacking out.
